There is no kind of love like a Father’s love. It’s an emotional day for your Dad to give away his little girl, and even more emotional for you when it finally sinks in right before you walk down the aisle. Subside the mixed emotions you will inevitably both feel by treating him like the special man he truly is. Here are 6 unforgettable ways to make Dad feel loved on your wedding day!!

Include a Father Daughter Dance

This will arguably be your dad’s favorite part of the wedding day!  Pick a song that speaks to both of you or brings up old memories so that it’s extra special.  You will cherish these few minutes dancing together just the two of you, and these will likely be some of your favorite images from your wedding day!  Just be sure to have a kleenex or handkerchief ready!

Make him stand out in the crowd!

Another way to make your dad feel loved on your wedding day, is purchase something just for him!  Whether it be a special pair of cufflinks for him, a personalized pocket square or handkerchief from somewhere like Etsy! You could even order a boutonnière for him that is different from the rest to treat him like the special man he is. Whatever you choose to do, just be sure to do it at the rehearsal dinner or on the morning of your wedding day, so that your makeup is still intact before you walk down the aisle!

Play a few of his favorite tunes!

For party dancing, add a few songs to the playlist that make you think of him, and him of you!  Does your dad have a favorite song?  Make sure to include a few of these, and you can ensure to get your dad on the dance floor, even if he isn’t much of a dancer!

Make time for just the two of you!

This is one of my personal favorite ways to make your dad feel loved on your wedding day!  A father/ daughter first look gives your dad a chance to see you for the first time in your wedding dress, and usually takes place right after you’ve gotten into your dress before the rest of the day begins!  Your photographer will love capturing this special moment for you, and is also a good time to give any special gifts that you have for your dad!

Make a special ceremony tribute.

Giving his daughter away during the ceremony is the hardest part for every father, and you recognizing that will mean the world to him!  After you’ve said your vows and begin making your first steps down the aisle as husband and wife, be sure to make a pit stock to give your dad a big hug and kiss on the cheek.

Ask him to start off the reception with a welcome speech!

He will love talking about his little girl, fun memories and making this day even more special for you!  Don’t be surprised if he tears up, even if he’s not a cryer.  There’s nothing more special than a father/ daughter love and it is a great way to make your dad feel special on your wedding day!
