Since we moved to Indianapolis, I haven’t had a lot of time for family sessions, but with the start of our associate team and having more assistant help, I’ve been able to open up my schedule more during the week to fit more portraits sessions in with families and newborns! So when Mary inquired with me for their Coxhall Gardens family photos, I was so excited I was available!
Mary was looking for a location that was in Carmel, and when I presented some options to her, she knew family photos at Coxhall Gardens was the location!
Between the traditional brick mansion, the limestone amphitheater, and the beautiful tree we found with white blooms on it, it was the perfect spot for an early Spring family photo session at Coxhall Gardens! With the weather being so up and down and so many rainy days causing me to reschedule sessions, I was glad that the initial date we chose worked out!
The Hart kids were on their best behavior for their family photos!
But their angelic behavior didn’t come without a little incentive! We always suggest that parents bring a snack that their kids love, to help distract and bribe them into being on their best behavior in front of the camera! For the Hart kids, this meant skittles and marshmallows. Even though it may have taken them a minute or two to chew them, it was worth it!
Even for the moments when kids can be rambunctious during family portrait sessions, we use that time to get some candid moments and funny expressions so you can look back on photos and remember the personalities of your kids at this age! We captured her kids swinging from branches, running in the grass, and twirling for example, which turned out to be some of my personal favorites from their gallery! Mary nailed their outfits as well, by choosing colors that coordinated together without being too matchy matchy!
