Extended family sessions are some of the most meaningful portraits a family can invest in. While many families update photos of their children regularly, gathering grandparents, siblings, cousins, and multiple generations together for extended family photos in Indianapolis is something that often gets pushed to the back burner. Yet these are the photographs that become true family heirlooms over time.
These beautiful extended family photos took place at their home in Meridian-Kessler in Indianapolis, Indiana
This session was a last minute request while much of their out of town family was gathering for grandma’s birthday and they wanted to have them taken right before their cocktail class by Mixo Indy, so we opted to take them in front of their gorgeous Meridian-Kessler home.
One of the most valuable parts of scheduling extended family photos in Indianapolis is the opportunity to capture every combination of relationships.
We begin with portraits of the entire family together and then move through smaller groupings—grandparents with grandchildren, individual families, siblings, and cousins. This ensures that every family leaves the session with meaningful images of their own while also preserving the bigger picture of the entire family legacy. These sessions often turn into some of the most treasured photographs families own. Many families choose to turn their extended family portraits into heirloom albums, framed prints for their homes, or gallery walls that tell the story of their family across generations.
Years from now, these photographs will become part of your family’s history—something your children and grandchildren will look back on and treasure.
If you’ve been thinking about scheduling extended family photos in Indianapolis, a family gathering or holiday visit is the perfect time to make it happen.
