Lila + Brett | Wedding at Black Iris Estate in Carmel, Indiana

Weddings

November 22, 2022

You may remember Lila and Brett from their dreamy Lincoln Park Engagement Photos – well, this sweet couple is finally married! Lila and Brett’s wedding at Black Iris Estate in Carmel, Indiana was centered on spending time with each other, and with those that mattered the most! I was so honored to capture their day, and I’m so glad to share it with you all!

Lila and Brett finished most of their family photos before the ceremony, so their wedding at Black Iris Estate was stress free!

Black Iris Estate is home to many gorgeous photo ops, and with the ceremony and reception in one place.  They had such a calm and organized morning!  Lila and her bridesmaids came to the estate where they got into their dresses.  Right after photographing some bridal portraits in the bridal suite, we captured Lila’s first look with her dad. She surprised him with a custom message sewn into the back of his tie that he hadn’t even noticed yet.

We then took Lila right into her first look with Brett, and got bride and groom and wedding party portraits in the wooded property. We also used the grand staircase and the front of the house since there are so many great backgrounds at this venue!

I loved that Lila and Brett had an early first look, which allowed most of the family portraits to get done before the wedding, so that they could spend as much time enjoying their day as possible! The ceremony was in the gorgeous Willow Chapel that lets in such dreamy lighting through the vines!

Lila and Brett wove the most thoughtful details into their wedding at Black Iris Estate!

Lila and Brett are such a thoughtful and loving couple, and this was reflected into many aspects of their Black Iris Estate wedding. Instead of the traditional table numbers, their numbers were years that they have both been alive with photos of them that year. This was creative and tasteful way to personalize their tablescape and include photos.  Not only were there photos of them in their younger years, but there were also photos with them as a couple, and I loved that this idea showcased photos of them throughout their lives!

I could also tell how much they value friendship by hearing the best man’s speech, which included a funny story of how Brett ditched him to sit by Lila in math class where they first met at Purdue University. Their reception had donuts and cupcakes instead of traditional cake which was so fun, and their late night snack was pretzels and dip and chicken and waffles – the dancing guests (and me) loved it!

These Boilermakers have officially tied the knot!

Lila and Brett met at Purdue, so we had to capture photos to pay homage to Purdue throughout the night! They played their Alma Mater song to end the night, and we captured some fun photos of them singing the Purdue alumni song and holding the flag. Congratulations, Lila and Brett!
