I typically don’t meet my couples until at least a few months after they book with me, but Michelle and Matt only had four short months to plan their wedding in September, so we ended up doing their session at Newfields the week after they booked with me!
I’m so excited to share this sweet couple’s Newfields engagement photos in Indianapolis on the blog, and I can’t wait to get Michelle and Matt in front of my camera again for their wedding day in a few short months!
Michelle and Matt met on Bumble
After moving from California to Indiana to be closer to family, Michelle decided to join Bumble to start dating again. You could say it was luck or that it was meant to be, but her very first date off of Bumble was with Matt! One of the things that drew them to each other was that they both had young boys around the same age. But as they sat on their first date while drinking a beer at Four Day Ray, they quickly realized this date was going to turn into something truly special!
They’re best friends and both would agree that life is just easier and time flies by when they’re together!
The Proposal While Doing Something They Love
They love traveling with their two boys and spending time outdoors. So when Matt knew he wanted to propose, and ask her to spend the rest of her life with him, it was doing something they love. One weekend they went for a hike at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis, and when they stepped out on the rocks by the water, Matt pretended to get out his camera lens to take photos. When he turned around Matt was on one knee proposing to Michelle!
Their engagement photos at Newfields fit Matt and Michelle so well. Being the classy and put-together couple that they are, the elegance of Newfields was the perfect fit! Michelle wore a neutral, ivory dress to compliment Matt’s light pink dress shirt. These colors were perfect pop against all the greenery that Newfields has in the Spring, but their engagement session “popped” even more when they popped a bottle of champagne making for a fun end to our session! Friends, when in doubt, bring the champagne!!!

Located at the Indianapolis Art Museum, the grounds behind it include vast gardens where something is always blooming most of the year! From the iron gate that greets you when you arrive, the beautiful Lilly House and its beautiful arch ways below that service as a gorgeous backdrop, the greenhouse and all of the little pathways! Every time I’m there I think of my favorite childhood movie, The Secret Garden! The only downside is you will have to purchase a $50 photography permit, and it is unavailable certain times of the year, but when it is, it is WELL worth it!
