As a Carmel, Indiana family photographer, I’ve learned that sometimes the most memorable sessions come with a little unpredictability—like an unexpected summer pop up shower! The Schuyler family met for summer family photos at Flowing Well Park in Carmel, Indiana for their daughter’s one-year milestone session. Just as we pulled into the parking lot, a pop-up rain shower rolled in out of nowhere. With only a 4% chance of rain on the radar, it truly caught us off guard. But rather than rescheduling, we waited a few minutes in our cars- and just like that, the clouds parted, the rain stopped, and we were rewarded with the most beautiful soft light.
Summer Family Photos at Flowing Well Park in Carmel, Indiana is one of my favorite summer locations.
Flowing Well Park is especially great for families with toddlers and early bedtimes since there is a lot of shade no matter the time of day. The creekside setting is shaded by tall trees that filter in just the right amount of evening light- creating that warm, golden glow that’s perfect for photos without needing to stay out too late.
This session was full of joyful candids as we documented their daughter’s one year milestone.
Nora was curious, playful, and full of sweet expressions as she explored with her parents by her side. Mom and I had coordinated their outfits in advance, starting with a simple and beautiful white dress she already owned and loved. We styled the rest of the family around her look to keep everything cohesive and timeless, and the result was an effortlessly summery palette that complemented the natural creek setting perfectly.
