This was my second newborn session with this sweet Indianapolis family.
One of the greatest honors in my work as a newborn photographer is getting to photograph families as they grow. This summer, I had the joy of welcoming baby Genevieve into my studio for her studio newborn photos in Indianapolis, Indiana, along with her parents and her proud big sister, Nova.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of photographing Nova’s newborn session, so being invited back to capture this next chapter felt incredibly special.
Neutral tones create timeless newborn photos.
For Genevieve’s session, we chose a soft, neutral color palette. I always love neutrals for newborn photos because they keep the focus where it belongs—on baby’s tiny features and the beautiful connections between family members. The simplicity of these tones ensures that the images remain timeless heirlooms for years to come.

Of course, sessions with toddlers can sometimes be a little unpredictable—especially when there’s a brand-new baby stealing some of the spotlight!
With a few tricks we were able to capture Nova’s sweet bond with her new baby sister. Playing her favorite song, reading books with dad, and even a quick snack break helped her relax and join in the fun. These authentic little moments are often the ones families treasure most—or at least they’re the moments I treasure as a mama myself..
