When Katherin reached out about having an extended family session while her parents and siblings were visiting from New York, I was honored she thought of me again! As we recently showcased The Sholtis Extended Family Session at Laurel Hall where we also talked about this, but we have to tell you again why we love extended family sessions. First and foremost, it’s one of the rare times that you’ll have professional family photos together. These group photos are the ones that make it in frames on the walls of your home and are passed down from generation to generation! Secondly, it’s a great opportunity to get types of portrait sessions in one. We’ll photograph the grandparents together, the grandparents with their adult kids, each individual family with their little ones, individual portraits of each child and so much more! I always suggest ordering an heirloom family album to hold all of these keepsakes since these types of sessions are ones families love to pass down through the generations.

Katherin’s family is originally from Ecuador where I’ve also had the opportunity to travel to for a mission trip years ago! Even though they’ve lived in New York for many years now, we talked about the amazing Ecuadorian culture, food, and tourist sites throughout our session. One of my favorite things about being an Indianapolis family photographer is meeting so many families from different backgrounds. By getting to know them during our session, I’m able to bring out the core of who they are as a family through their photos.
