These days, so much of the consumer market is moving away from the big box stores to online. This can be more convenient, however, if you’re anything like me sometimes you just want to see things in person to touch and feel them! Today on the blog I’m sharing where to shop for kids and babies in Indianapolis, as well as a few of our favorite online stores that may also have something you love for your little ones!
I had to start with my personal favorite local boutique- Hey Little Diddle.
This adorable boutique opened only a few years ago in Carmel City Center and has recently expanded from one store to two! They now have one store dedicated to babies up to 12 months old, while their other store just a few steps away is dedicated to children ages 1-7 years old. As an Indianapolis lifestyle newborn and family photographer, this boutique is always my first suggestion when moms ask me where to shop for kids and babies in Indianapolis. Why? The majority of their prints are the perfect colors and textures for photo sessions! They carry gorgeous high end brands like Finn and Vince, Quincy Mae, Pink Chicken and more. Run and check out Hey Little Diddle in Carmel, Indiana today!
Are you a boy mom? Roman and Leo is the perfect place to shop for boy kids and babies in Indianapolis!
As a mom who’s about to be a boy mom (any day now!), I am so excited to shop at Roman and Leo for our son! The saying, “shopping for boys just isn’t as fun as it is for girls” just isn’t true at this boy loving store! Started by a mom of three boys herself who wanted to dress her boys better, she opened this store in 2013 and has also grown to an avid online community on Instagram! They carry brands like Ford and Wyatt, Copper Pearl, Mebie Baby and so many more, as well as everything from clothing, to shoes to even accessories for mom.
Love a classic refined style for your kids?
Since writing this blog, I had to go back and edit it to include one of Carmel’s newest boutique- Little Tulip Tree. They carry The Beaufort Bonnet Company, a Southerns favorite children’s brand, as well as shoes, toys and other gifts. With all of the pastels this store has to offer, you really can’t go wrong for your photo session and will be sure to make a statement!
Wondering where to shop for kids and babies in Indianapolis for a more tailored look? We love Janie and Jack for special events like weddings and holidays!
Don’t get me wrong, Janie and Jack carry a ton of more casual apparel for kids and babies with colorful prints, but personally it’s my go to store for special occasions! For photo sessions, some of their prints may be too busy for the camera unless it’s a solid color, but we still LOVE this store! Locally you can find it at the Keystone Fashion Mall where staff can help you find what you’re looking for, but they also are online and nationwide.
Last but not least, Nordstroms kids and baby section is always a safe bet for everything your looking for!
Nordstroms is a great one stop shop for everything from clothing, shoes, toys and even baby gear. I always remember their incredible customer service, amazing return policy and willingness to ship out of stock items for free to your house (you can’t beat that!) Also located at Keystone Fashion Mall on the Northside of Indianapolis, this is a great option for where to shop for kids and babies in Indianapolis.
A few of our online favorites for where to shop for kids and babies:
–Hannah Anderson: a lot of their prints will be too busy for a photo session, unless you opt for a solid print, but we couldn’t help but mention this favorite online vendor because of their amazing high quality and long lasting material. My favorite thing to purchase from here is their pajamas- The quality is incredible!
–Lou Lou & Company: These are some of the softest baby clothes you’ll ever feel. I ordered several of their knotted robes for both of our kids as babies, because there’s no easier way to change them (especially at 2am!)
–H&M: this is such a great option for where to shop for kids and babies on a budget while keeping up with all of the trends. As an Indianapolis family photographer, this is another first suggestion for families looking to dress their kids a little more casual!
–Zara: I love going to this store in person when we’re in Chicago, but most of the time I have to shop at their online store. They have so many gorgeous pieces that fit most budgets and keep your kid looking as fashionable as ever. I bought several items here for Mia when she was a baby and thought the quality was incredible for the price. One thing to note, their sizes run a little bigger than most brands, so you may want to size down.-The RealReal: They have high end legacy designer baby and children’s clothing! If you’re wanting something a little nicer, but don’t want to pay the price tag, it may be worth sifting through.
