You may recognize The Smith family from their adorable winter family and maternity session at Dulls Tree Farm. Fast forward to early April, just a week before the due date of my own second baby, and I had the honor of being their newborn photographer in Indianapolis to document this season with the newest member of their family, little miss Harper. I can’t wait to share more of this session with you today on the blog!
Kelsey and her husband Sam welcomed their second child Harper Elaine into their family on March 31st, 2023!
When Kelsey and I were initially planning their lifestyle newborn session with me, I knew I was also expecting our second baby on April 11th just a few weeks after Kelsey’s due date. I was initially confident that I would be available, however, as their session with me got closer and closer, I began getting worried that our son may decide to come a few weeks earlier than expected and I just didn’t want to have to reschedule with The Smith family! Luckily, everything worked out as planned, and as I’m writing this blog post on our son’s due date (who has not yet arrived), everything worked out!
As a newborn photographer in Indianapolis and mama of littles myself, I sometimes have to get creative to get certain photos that I want to capture.
This session with The Smith family was no different. Big sister Hayden who’s almost 2.5 years old was so enthusiastic and busy that we had to implement fun little games and snacks to get her where we needed her for certain shots. Kelsey, like so many of the moms I work with, was so apologetic for the chaos, but I just laugh every time because you know what? That’s life with little ones! I love to embrace the chaos as a newborn photographer in Indianapolis, and use it to capture so many beautiful candid moments. And yes, we will still get several photos of everyone smiling at the camera!
