You may recognize Jill, – she’s our amazing Operations Manager that helps me behind the scenes to serve our clients with welcome gifts, assists in getting our blogs published and email marketing. Kaitlin Mendoza Photography would not run as smoothly as it does without her, so I was so happy when she asked me to photograph her first baby’s newborn photos. As an Indianapolis, Indiana lifestyle newborn photographer, I love photographing refined, crisp and timeless images for my clients to remember this fleeting newborn season. This session in particular was extra special. I’m so excited to share all of the little details of this session with you today on the blog!
Jill and her husband Chris welcomed their first child Peter Michael into the world on January 27th, 2023!
A few weeks before Baby Peter’s due date, Jill and I had plans to get pedicures together before she took her maternity leave. However, the night before our nail date, she texted me to let me know she was already in labor! We thought we had plenty of time, but as many of you know, babies will come when they’re ready. While we didn’t get to get our nails done together, she did have an amazing birth experience with her doula Brandie Stoneking with Hoosier Doula at IU Health North in Carmel, Indiana.
Jill and Chris decided to wait to find out the gender, and the whole pregnancy we were convinced she was having a girl. But the joke was on us, because their sweet baby was a boy! Luckily, Jill is so organized that she ordered both boy and girl bow sashes for her session and needlepointed the boy and girl names they had picked out, just in case. Even though I’ve seen a lot of very prepared expecting mamas as an Indianapolis, Indiana lifestyle newborn photographer– Jill’s level of organization certainly takes the cake!
As an Indianapolis, Indiana lifestyle newborn photographer, I’ve learned how much of a difference intentional details make during a session.
One of the many reasons I hired Jill as our Operations Manager was because she has a very great sense of style and attention to detail. Her preparation for Baby Peter’s nursery was no different. As soon as I stepped into his nursery, the bunny wall detail took my breath away. I was convinced she had invested in wallpaper, however, she actually used a stencil from Cutting Edge Wall Stecils and used the same color, but with a different finish to make the design stand out with more shine. It looked amazing and certainly saved her hundreds of dollars, as the stencils are only between $30-40!
She also ordered an adorable monogrammed bow sash that we used as an outfit change for variety from the simple white onesie. We wrapped him up in a white swaddle under the bow sash, and this little man fell right asleep for the rest of our session together. As an Indianapolis, Indiana lifestyle newborn photographer, I love to ensure my clients feel prepared for their session with me, and it was obvious that Jill had studied my newborn guide as well as added her own personal touches and sense of style to make it her own. I just love that!
Jill, I’m so lucky to have you on the KMP team, but even more so, I’m so honored to have been your Indianapolis, Indiana lifestyle newborn photographer!
Baby Peter couldn’t have been more perfect, and I hope you cherish these images to remember this sweet season of life that will fly by before you know it. You are already such an amazing mother, and I can’t wait for our baby boys to be so close in age as soon as our own son and second baby arrives in just a few weeks!
