Celebrating life’s significant milestones with loved ones is a privilege, and as an Indianapolis Family Event Photographer, I’m honored to capture these moments. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a truly special occasion: Grandma DT’s 90th birthday party, held at her stunning private residence in Indianapolis. This was more than just a party; it was a celebration of a life well-lived and the deep bonds of family.
The birthday celebrant was the brightest light of the whole day
Grandma DT, a resilient woman who now suffers from dementia, may not have been fully aware of the birthday celebrations or even been able to change out of her nightgown that day, but her spirit shone brightly. It was one of her “good days,” and the joy in her eyes and the beautiful smile on her face spoke volumes. These are the moments that matter most, and I’m so glad I could be there to document them.
The weather in May was picture-perfect, with the kind of warmth and light that makes everything feel a little more magical. The celebration took place at her home—a home she and her husband built many generations ago. Its timeless charm reminded me of the picturesque homes in Charleston, SC, where I used to live. Surrounded by lush greenery and a pristine pool, the setting was nothing short of idyllic.
