There are some days I think to myself, “Wow, that was so perfect”. And Steph & JP’s wedding was definitely one of those. Even though most of the wedding planning had been done by Stephanie’s sister and I hadn’t had a chance to meet Stephanie yet, she was so sweet and her entire family was incredibly kind and welcoming the minute I walked in the door, treating me like one of their own!
Stephanie and JP were among many couples who had to reschedule their original wedding date due to COVID, but they also changed their original location from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado to a more intimate Downtown Charleston wedding. Even though I’m sure this was initially a disappointment to have to change their plans, I would argue that their wedding turned out just how it was meant to be!
The Most Perfect Intimate Downtown Charleston Wedding!
Stephanie & JP’s Saturday wedding was sunny, partly cloudy and 75 degrees- which if you know Charleston at all, this is very moderate for the end of September when it’s typically still super hot and humid. Not only that, but they rented the most gorgeous three story historic home in Downtown Charleston on South Battery where their whole family could stay together for the weekend.
This historic mansion was anything but ordinary! It was built in the 1800’s with spacious rooms on each floor, with large floor to ceiling windows that let in the most amazing natural light for Stephanie’s getting ready photos. All seventeen family members and guests got ready together, with the guys on one floor and the girls on another, since Stephanie and JP chose to not see each other before the wedding. The wedding ceremony and family photos took place in an intimate courtyard behind the home filled with endless lush green landscape. Their florals were kept simple and elegant with white hydrangeas and greenery tapering down the staircase and a ceremony arbor that complimented the natural landscape in the courtyard.
The two piece quartet played in the background while all of the guests were escorted through the courtyard to their seats.
The flower girls and ring bearer were adorable as they carefully laid rose petals along the ground with a little assistance from Stephanie’s sister. But when Stephanie was escorted by her dad through the courtyard, the look on JP’s face was absolutely priceless as he saw her for the first time in her gorgeous white and gold floral wedding dress! After the ceremony at their Downtown Charleston wedding, Stephanie’s father gave an endearing champagne toast about the day Stephanie told her parents that JP was the man she was going to marry one day. After taking family photos, we walked down the street to White Point Garden for bride and groom photos during golden hour! Everything about their Downtown Charleston wedding day was absolutely perfect, because the focus of the day was about their love for each other and their families coming together. Isn’t that how it should be?!
