1. Freezing those intimate moments in time
There’s nothing I love more in this job than freezing those moments in time that my clients and their families can cherish forever. Whether it’s the first look with your future husband, the first look down the aisle, the first time your parents see you in your wedding dress, or your tears of happiness as you read your vows. These moments are why I love being a Carmel Wedding Photographer, and why I do what I do!
2. Everyone is so happy!
Yes… weddings can be stressful, but it’s such a happy occasion! How often are you going to have all of your closest friends and family all in the same place? Probably never! This is going to be one of the best days of your lives, and I love seeing the genuine smiles on everyones faces throughout the day!
3. I love seeing the designs people choose!
I love seeing how a bride and groom’s vision comes together, from the colors they choose, the florals, the unique seating charts and favors, and how they use the venue space! It’s like a real live Pinterest board!
4. I love a good challenge
It’s all about the light, and unfortunately we don’t always get to control it. Whether we’re having to take photos in the middle of the day when the sun is bright, it’s overcast and rainy, there’s a tropical storm (yes, I’ve shot a wedding in a category one hurricane!) or the venue is dark and doesn’t have a lot of natural light- I love figuring out how I can make the best of any scenario to accomplish my photography style and photos that you’ll LOVE!
5. I get to travel!
I love to travel to new places, so when I book a destination wedding I’m really on cloud nine! From Charleston, Colorado, the Caribbean to Europe- there’s really no place I won’t go!
6. I get to meet new people
One of the things I loved about being a Physical Therapist, was meeting so many different people and hearing their stories! I love meeting new couples and hearing how they met, what they love to do together, their proposal story, their wedding dreams and couple goals! Not only am I genuinely interested in hearing these things, it also helps me plan how to personalize your engagement session and wedding day! Your both book worms? Let’s shoot at the library or incorporate your favorite book! Are you a wine lover like me? Let’s shoot at the vineyards and of course, open a bottle of wine!
7. I get to stay home with my daughter
This is everything! Being able to wake up and spend the whole day with our baby girl is a mama’s dream. Being a Carmel wedding photographer gives me the freedom to stay at home with her during the weekdays and complete all of the backend tasks, while in the evenings and weekends I devote to engagement sessions and weddings! Yes, being a mom and running a business simultaneously can be complicated at times, but I have actually learned to be much more efficient with the time I do have (and with the help of an occasional babysitter!)
8. I love being self employed
For years I dreamed of owning my own business, but it took me a while to figure out what that was. If you told me I would be a wedding photographer when I picked up a camera for the first time, I would have laughed! But the day I shot a wedding with a photographer friend of mine “for fun”, I knew wedding photography was a career I wanted to seriously pursue! Being the planning and detail oriented person that I am, I quickly realized that this was something that I loved! Were there moments when I wanted to quit? 100%! But my sweet husband believed in me even on my worst days, and I’m so glad he did or I wouldn’t be where I’m at today!
9. I love wow-ing my clients
I try to go above and beyond to wow my clients, from delivering a welcome gift soon after a couple books with me, staying a little longer on your wedding day, sneak peaks photos within 24-48 hours, delivering more images than expected and let’s be honest- a lifelong friendship! I truly love serving my couples and loving on them through one of the most important chapters of their lives!
10. Creating heirloom albums for clients
Ok… this is one of my favorite parts of my job as a Carmel wedding photographer. Yes, I love capturing beautiful images, but what good are they doing sitting on your computer or in a little square on Instagram for years and years?! Print your images, hang them on your walls, and make sure to invest in a TANGIBLE heirloom wedding album that you can frequently page through to reminisce on the beautiful day your wedding was! When you invest in an heirloom wedding album with us, we do all the dirty work. All you have to do is choose the images you want to include, any upgrades, and then you will go through 3 rounds of edits with me to make sure everything is absolutely perfect before sending it off to the print shop!
