As a studio newborn photographer in Indianapolis, I love capturing the sweet and fleeting moments of early parenthood. In November, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful family of three for their very first family session. This session was extra special because not only did it serve as their newborn session for baby Stella—who was already three months old—but it was also their Christmas card photo!
Mom and I collaborated closely to plan their session.
She carefully selected a dress from my client closet that complemented the soft, neutral tones of my studio space. The warm and inviting atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for these timeless images. Although Stella was nearing her nap time, I had a few tricks up my sleeve to bring out some of her sweetest smiles while keeping her comfortable and calm.
This session was made even more meaningful as a studio newborn photographer in Indianapolis by the effort this family made to be there.
They drove all the way from rural Indiana just for their session, and it happened to be mom’s last day of maternity leave before returning to work—a bittersweet milestone. I felt truly honored to capture these moments for them, preserving this chapter of their lives before they stepped into a new routine.
Although I typically recommend newborn photos within the first three weeks, this session is a beautiful reminder that newborn photos can truly be taken when you feel ready.
