In September, I finally got to meet Ariana and Tom at their Newfields engagement photos in Indianapolis! I was beyond excited to finally meet them in person because only a few months before, these two asked me to photograph their destination wedding next year! I love taking on 2-3 destination weddings per year, and I’m so excited to travel down South again where the sunlight shines perfectly through the Spanish Moss trees! Ariana and Tom are getting married at The Jekyll Island Club Resort, where Tom’s family vacations every year. It’s going to be unbelievably beautiful!
Ariana and Tom met only one year ago at Purdue!
They were both Resident Assistants in the same hall when their paths collided. Tom had been working and living there for two years and it was Ariana’s first year as an RA. The day that Ariana moved in, she saw a text on the RA group chat. Tom and his best friend asked who moved in and Ariana “liked” the text. The two guys then showed up at her door to meet her. She invited them in and they talked for a while. Cole, Tom’s best friend, thought it was very awkward, but Tom and I didn’t. They immediately clicked and over the next few days, Tom was very sweet and would help Ariana out with just about anything she needed. Only a few days after meeting each other, Tom asked Ariana out to dinner for their first date!
The Romantic Seaside Proposal
Tom’s family invited Ariana to go on vacation with them to Jekyll Island, Georgia, where they go every year. The first night that they were there, they went for a walk along the beach at sunset before going back to their rental home. When they went back to the house, Tom suggested they go to the lookout on the roof to have a drink. Little did she know, when she would walk in she would be walking into music playing, a bottle of champagne, flowers and candles. The first thing Tom said was, “this is where we get to talk about our future together.” Ariana thought that was really sweet and gave him a hug. Tom then said, “I haven’t even asked you yet.” Ariana was very confused at this point until Tom got down on one knee and ask Ariana to marry him! Well, you know the rest of the story. She said “yes!”. Before they left, they looked at Crane Cottage wedding venue just for fun, and ended up falling in love with it and decided that Jekyll Island was the perfect place to get married!
Their Newfields Engagement Photos in Indianapolis was the perfect location for Ariana and Tom!
They were looking for an engagement session location that was local, classy and timeless, so Newfields was a great fit! They started with neutral cream and white tones in their first outfit, that popped perfectly against the lush greenery in the gardens. For their second outfit, Ariana chose a fun white sundress and Tom wore a black polo that was a nice contrast. I really enjoyed getting to know Ariana and Tom during their Newfields engagement photos in Indianapolis, and hearing more about the dreamy destination wedding that they are planning for August! Goodness, I can’t tell you how excited I am for their wedding!!!
Congratulations Ariana and Tom!
I could gush about you two love birds forever, and can’t begin to tell you how excited I am that you chose me to tag along and capture your destination wedding in Jekyll Island August 2022! I hope you love these highlights from your Newfields engagement photos in Indianapolis, and until then I’ll be counting down the days until your big day at Jekyll Island Club Resort at Crane Cottage!
